Orienteering is a navigational sport done around the world. We will use detailed maps produced to the International Specification for Orienteering Maps. Several maps in the area were produced under a grant from the US Olympic Committee and are used for junior and senior team training as well as for local orienteering events. The class does not require any previous experience and maps will be provided. Bring your own compass and wear proper outdoor clothing, shoes and/or boots. Each class will involve 4-6 kilometers (2-4 miles) of travel on foot, both on and off the trail. Participation in two orienteering events, in the afternoon after training, is included in the class fee.
