On Thursday Eventing, October 18th, 2018, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce (AHCC) held its Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards Banquet at the Hyatt Regency Downtown.

ConverGENTE y Cultura celebrates the convergence of the Native American, Spanish and Mexican cultures here in Albuquerque and throughout the state.  The AHCC recognizes the unique tapestry of the cultures that have been woven together over the centuries and has shaped this great city and state.

Also celebrated was the Proclamation of Reconciliation that was recently negotiated and signed  by representatives of the Caballeros De Vargas, the All Indian Pueblo Council, the Mayor of Santa Fe and Archbishop of Santa Fe.

In addition, two well-known Hispanic Leaders received Lifetime Achievement Awards; former Ambassador Ed Romero and former Qwest New Mexico President, Loretta Armenta, who also served as President and CEO of the AHCC from 1995 to 2004.

Business awards were received by the following:
  • Small Business of the Year:  Donut Mart – Tahir Gauba
  • Business Person of the Year: Joe Maez – The Maez Group
  • Technology Business of the Year: AdWallet – Adam Greenwood
  • New Business of the Year: Liv’s Good Nutrition – Olivia Thompson
  • Health and Wellness Business of the Year: NM Brief Relief – David Valdez
  • International Business of the Year: El Mezquite – Sergio Bermudez
  • Native Owned Business of the Year: Isleta Resort and Casino – Kayla Singletary
  • Woman-Owned Business of the Year: Q’s Cakes & Sweets Boutique – Queenesha Meyers
  • Non-Profit Organization of the Year: Boys & Girls Club of Central New Mexico – Tim Sheehan
  • Arts & Culture Organization of the Year: Sandia Peak Tram – Jessica Fox and Michael Donovan
Over 4,000 online voters determined the winners.
