Chamber, EDC & Workforce Solutions hosting Job Fair

The Alice Chamber of Commerce, Alice Jim Well County Economic Development Corporation and Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend are teaming up to host a Job Fair on Tuesday, July 9th.
“Our upturn in our economy due in part to the Eagle Ford Shale discovery has left our local businesses needing additional help filling positions in the food, retail, medical/home health industries that we decided to assist them with a job fair,” Alice Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Juan Navejar said. “We are being contacted more and more from our members and non-members with requests to help them fill some job vacancies.”
Last month, the Chamber, EDC and Workforce Solutions held a workforce summit to address the issue. The end result was a job fair.
The three entities are looking for local businesses interested in participating in the Fair. Space will be limited to the first 45 businesses wishing to participate. The Job Fair will be held on the first floor of the old Wells Fargo Building, 601 E. Main.
“As the demand for employees increases due to the Eagle Ford Shale activity and improving economy, the existing labor force is increasingly taxed.  This demand presents a good opportunity for those looking to "move up" in their industry or for those looking to change jobs,” Navejar said. “The most difficult part of this process can be connecting the prospective employee with an employer.  Thus, a job fair can provide that connection.  By preparing a current resume and distributing it to employers at the job fair, the prospective employee can start the process to a brighter future.”
Businesses should contact the Chamber to obtain a registration form. There is no cost to the business. Each business will be provided a table and chairs. Space for interviewing will also be provided.
For more information or to participate contact the Chamber or EDC at 361-664-3454.
