Changes made on Social Security card replacements

Beginning June 24, 2013, if your employees are applying for a replacement Social Security card, or simply asking for a printout of their Social Security numbers, they will need to provide us with proof of identity.  They must also show us documents proving:
• U.S. Citizenship (if not already established in our records), or
• Current work authorized immigration status/new valid non-work reason.
The attachment provides information on the documents now required to obtain a replacement Social Security card or printout.

In addition, employers can verify an SSN by using the following services:
• Social Security Number Verification Service – for employers.
• Department of Homeland Security’s eVerify Service – for employers to determine employment eligibility.
• Social Security’s Consent-Based SSN Verification Service – for enrolled private companies and government agencies for a fee.
