JWC Day at Capital Feb 7th

Local residents are invited to a day at the Texas State Capitol for Jim Wells County Day in Austin sponsored by the Alice Chamber of Commerce/CVB on Tuesday, February 7, 2017.

“This is a great way to support our elected officials in Austin while learning about what is in store for this legislature that affects us locally,” Chamber Executive Director Juan Navejar said. “We have a special luncheon planned with our state representative and senator.”

A special luncheon is planned with Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, Rep. JM Lozano. We have also extended an invitation to Texas AG Commissioner Sid Miller.

The cost for the luncheon is $25. There will be no transportation to and from Austin provided this year.

“We are excited to put this together for everyone who would like to be a part of this,” Navejar said. “We have invited the cities of Alice, Orange Grove, Ben Bolt and Premont along with county officials, Alice Jim Wells County EDC, Alice Chamber of Commerce and our school districts from the county to attend.”

Resolutions will be read on both the House and Senate floors proclaiming Jim Wells County Day along with the luncheon at the Extension Members Lounge, tour of the capitol.
