Board President's Memo

Marisol Carvajal-Garcia

Greetings all, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa and Representative JM Lozano for hosting Jim Wells County Day at the Capital in Austin. We had a great contingency attend the event.
I had the opportunity to represent the Chamber on the House Floor when Rep. Lozano and Rep  Richard Raymond read the Resolution on Jim Wells County. It was quite an honor. On the senate side, JWC Judge Pete Trevino, Commissioners Margie Gonzalez and Commissioner Carlos Gonzalez.
Our staff is collecting our 2017 Membership Investments. If you have not turned yours in yet, we ask you to continue your support. The Chamber of Commerce offers you great opportunities to excel your business through networking, advertising and referrals from the staff. Networking is a great tool during our Chamber Mixers which are held on the third Thursday every other month while our Luncheon are held in between. Our next scheduled Luncheon is February 30th at the Boys and Girls Club of Alice on South Texas Blvd.
As a Chamber member, it can cost you pennies to advertise in our newsletter either through a flyer or a standalone ad in our award winning newsletter. Referrals are perhaps one of your best assets the Chamber offers. When we receive phone calls, we refer our Chamber members first. You would be surprise as the number of referrals given in one day alone. Another great asset for our Chamber members is the Electric Coalition. If you are looking to save on your electric bills, contact the staff for more information.
Plans are underway for the Chamber’s 80th Annual Banquet next month. We are selling sponsorship tables and soliciting prizes for the silent auction. If you are interested in assist us in either, call Juan or
Noemi at 361-664-3454.
