Pharmacist Gonzalez named Citizen of the Year

A very surprised Rodrigo “Roddy” Gonzalez was named the 2017 Citizen of the Year at the Annual Alice Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
“I am really honored by this and to our community. I want to thank the Chamber for all it has done,” Gonzalez told the crowd during the banquet.
Gonzalez was selected by a panel of out-of-town judges for his contributions to the Alice community not only as a business owner but for his contributions to various organizations.
His many contributions to the Boys and Girls Club of Alice, the Chamber, church groups and various other nonprofits..
“Roddy has been involved in both moving Alice forward through the many organizations and activities he serves through philanthropic efforts. His underlying message is always supporting the many causes that influence our community through educational support, economically through his association with the merchant’s organization and Alice Chamber and his huge financial contributions to all parishes and churches,” Mellie Smithwich said.  
Nominations were received in sealed envelopes and delivered to the committee in Corpus Christi.
