The 2014 Lucien Flournoy Old Fashioned Barbecue sponsored by the Alice Chamber of Commerce is set for Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds.
This year’s speaker is Katharine Armstrong, President of Katharine Armstrong Inc., and also serves as President for Natural Resources Solutions (NRS) since 2008 which she founded. 
Natural Resources Solutions, LC is a consulting firm that specializes in finding practical and innovative solutions to both regulatory and non-regulatory natural resource and environmental issues. Based in Austin, Texas, the NRS team takes a results-oriented approach to natural resource management. With one hundred years of combined experience, NRS has been involved in cultivating solutions for an array of issues and interested parties.
Katherine is a fifth-generation Texan and is also President of Taking Care of Texas which was founded by former First Lady Laura Bush to “promote mutual benefits of economics and conservation” in Texas.  She is Co-Chairman of the South Texas Native Plant Restoration Project at Texas A&M Kingsville.
She also serves as Chairman for the Armstrong Center for Energy and the Environment at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.  She is a Director of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Assoc. and the Texas Wildlife Assoc. 
Katherine has three grown children.  She resides in Austin, TX with her husband, Ben Love, an attorney and rancher.  She is proactive in working with all sectors – public and private, in addressing critical issues affecting the environment and business. 
The Old Fashion Barbecue is an invitation only event organized by the Chamber of Commerce and serves an information gathering for its members and guest. Event sponsorship is $600 and allows each sponsor to invite 16 people to the event.
