Leadership Jim Wells County

Juan A. Navejar Jr.

The Leadership Jim Wells County class of 2012 met in December for a bit of history and economics as part of their curriculum of the year.
Alice Jim Wells County Economic Development Executive Director Dean Kruckenberg met with the class for a lesson in economic development. Kruckenberg gave the class an overview of what economic development means for the Hub City and Jim Wells County.
Keeping with the topic of a growing economy, the class ventured across the street to the Texas Workforce for an inside look as to the services they provide to get those looking to get back into the work force.
Following a tour of the Workforce it was back to the Chamber for a session on the history of the Tejano Music industry. However, technical difficulties prevented the viewing of the video so class had an opportunity to get to know each other better.
After lunch the class headed to Orange Grove for a meeting with Orange Grove Museum curator Betty Box. Mrs. Box gave the class a history lesson about the settlement of the area.
The class will reconvene on Thursday, January 12th for a session on community profile.
