Matula to speak at Chamber Banquet

The Alice Chamber of Commerce is marking its 75th Anniversary at its Annual Banquet on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the KC Hall. This year’s theme is “A Diamond Jubilee” with guest speaker President of the Craft Training Center of the Coastal Bend, Dr. Anne J. Matula.
“We are pleased to have Dr. Matula as our guest speaker as she brings a wealth of knowledge about our economic analysis,” Chamber Executive Director Juan Navejar said.
Dr. Matula is retired from 24 years of service at Del Mar College where she served as faculty, chairperson, and Dean of Business (10 years). Prior to joining Del Mar College, she taught in public school districts for 9 years. She was an elected trustee for Gregory-Portland Independent School District for 15 years, 13 years as Board President. Dr. Matula has also served as Chairman of San Patricio County Economic Development Corporation’s Board of Directors and served as a member of that board for nine years. She taught at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi as a visiting assistant professor for three years and currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in an adjunct capacity at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University’s Corpus Christi Center and the Corpus Christi Center for University of the Incarnate Word.
She was named a “Yellow Rose of Texas” by Governor Rick Perry 2002 and currently serves as the Chairman of the Public Protection Committee for the Coastal Bend Council of Governments and as a member of the Coastal Bend Partners for Career Readiness. She is also a member of the National Assessment Council for the National Center for Construction and Educational Research, on the Board of Directors for Communities in Schools of South Texas, and on the Board of Directors for Citizens for Educational Excellence
