APD gets Federal grant

Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) announced a grant for $13,573 was awarded to the Alice Police Department by the U.S. Department of Justice through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).
“I am very pleased to learn that the City of Alice Police Department will be receiving this well deserved federal grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice,” said U.S. Rep. Hinojosa. “I congratulate the leaders of Alice and everyone who worked together to obtain this important JAG grant. These funds will go far in helping the community and in supporting law enforcement initiatives at the Alice Police Department.”
The JAG funding will be used to purchase traditional law enforcement equipment geared towards officer safety, traffic stops, auto theft, gang enforcement, and drug trafficking.
The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) allows states and units of local government, including tribes, to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on their own state and local needs and conditions.
