Chamber recognized by TCCE

The Alice Chamber of Commerce has been recognized by the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) for the third time this year. The Alice Chamber received the Program of the Year in Education for its role in promoting the Eagle Ford Shale with its Old Fashioned Barbecue.
“This is quite an honor for us to be recognized for our efforts in giving our members an educational incentive with the Old Fashioned Barbecue,” Alice Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Juan Navejar said. “We used the barbecue last year to inform our members of the ideals of the South Texas oil boom, its pros and cons as presented by Texas A&M Dean of Petroleum Engineering Stephen Holditch which was well received and well attended.”
The TCCE Program of the Year award competition celebrates the excellent work chambers do in the areas of programs, events and chamber initiatives.
“Each year chambers provide event and undertake initiatives that have huge benefits that sometime go unnoticed. Now it is time to reward and recognize your efforts,” TCCE President-Elect Beth Journeay, IOM said.
Projects/Programs were submitted and judged on two primary criteria:
Did the program or project have a significant economic impact on the chamber’s service area or its membership?
Was the program or project new and innovative? OR Was this an existing program that the chamber improved its execution and delivery on to provide greater value?
“The barbecue had been on a seven-year hiatus and was reinstituted in 2011,” Navejar said. “We felt it was time to reintroduce the event back and it was well worth the effort and time as the event was quite successful.
