Chamber building to be remodeled

Juan A. Navejar Jr.

The Alice Chamber of Commerce building will see a facelift both inside and outside of the building beginning this month.
“Because of the business expansion going on in the Hub City along with the hiring of a new economic development director, we felt it was time to spruce up our building,” Alice Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Juan Navejar said. “We are the first place new businesses visit when relocating or trying to open a business in Alice. We wanted to make this building more appealing to visitors.”
The remodeling will begin in November with a fresh new coat of paint inside along with a refurbished conference room with tile floor and a new conference room table and chairs.
“Because of the new changes inside, the Chamber board of directors voted to limit the use of the conference room during its October board meeting,” Navejar said. “The board decided to charge a $50 cleaning fee to members and $300 for non-members for use of the conference room which will only be available for meetings only.  Companies will no longer be allowed to use the Chamber as a place of business effective January 1, 2013 as per the Chamber board of directors.”
The outside of the building will see a new look with a front entrance parking lot along with some landscaping around the building.
