Guerrero named Citizen of the Year

A surprised but humbled R. David Guerrero was named the 2012 Citizen of the Year at the Annual Alice Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
“I want to thank you all for the award. I am truly honored with this,” Guerrero said during the banquet. “I am the youngest of 11 children and I am blessed to have many of family members and my fiancé Barbara here to enjoy this award.”
Guerrero was selected by a panel of out-of-town judges for his contributions to the Alice community with countless of hours of volunteering.
Among one of Guerrero’s many organizations is Relay for Life in which he is credited with raising more than $800,000 since being a part of the organization since 2006. He serves as the event co-chair and in 2011 was presented with the Five Star award for exceeding all event goals.
Guerrero has also served on many boards to include the Alice Counseling Center, Brush Country Bash, Jim Wells County Fair Association. He currently serves as the Civic Vice President for the Alice Chamber of Commerce.
Other milestones include a Who’s Who Among Your Hispanics Award, Life Member fo the Alice Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, the Alice High School Alumni Award and the
2012 Alice Board of Realtors Citizen of the Year Award.
Nominations were received in sealed envelopes and delivered to the committee in Corpus Christi by two board members of the Chamber.
