Assistance Available for businesses who suffered flooding

AUSTIN, Texas — Residents of and businesses in Jim Wells County who suffered damage from the severe storms and flooding that occurred from June 19 - July 13, 2018 might now be eligible for programs that address certain needs.
Texas shoppers get a break from state and local sales taxes on August 10, 11 and 12 - the state’s annual tax holiday. Lay-away plans can be used again this year to take advantage of the sales tax holiday. This year includes items sold online, by telephone or mail.
Half of the year has gone by and it’s time to start thinking about the Board leadership for the 2019 Chamber year. Mellie Smithwick is the Board President –Elect and in accordance with the Chamber By-Laws, a nominations committee will be established to nominate five new board members. Their role will be to find individuals who will continue guiding the Chamber. We have a great staff and with a strong board the sky is the limit.
