WATSON CLINIC PODIATRIC SURGEON RELOCATES TO BARTOW LOCATION
      Effective June 1, Watson Clinic podiatric surgeon Ripal Y. Patel, DPM will move his practice from our Main Clinic facility to our Bartow location at 2250 Osprey Blvd. Suite 100.
      Dr. Patel specializes in the treatment of the lower extremities, including the foot and ankle.  He offers conservative and surgical treatment options for disorders and discomfort related to arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, diabetes, gout, bunions, fractures, and a wealth of additional conditions. 
       Dr. Patel received his doctorate of podiatric medicine at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed an internship and residency in podiatry at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, and an additional residency in podiatric surgery at San Pedro Peninsula Hospital in San Pedro, CA. Dr. Patel is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. He is board-certified in podiatric surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

WATSON CLINIC FOUNDATION APPOINTS NEW ARTS IN MEDICINE COORDINATOR
     The Watson Clinic Foundation is pleased to welcome a new lead coordinator to one of their most beloved and successful programs.
      Eva Hawkins, a professional with a wealth of experience in human resources and organizational development, will implement the popular Arts in Medicine program at the Watson Clinic Cancer & Research Center in Lakeland. A published author and a highly experienced program director, Ms. Hawkins is a tremendous asset to the Foundation team. 
       Arts in Medicine is an empowering outreach program aimed at elevating the spirits and enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients through the practice of the creative arts.  Sponsored by the Watson Clinic Foundation, this inspirational program provides an invaluable service to patients, families and treatment staff alike. 
      The program is made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers comprised of musicians, artists, writers, performers and educators; all joining together to represent nearly all forms of creative expression, including art, music and storytelling. The psychological and emotional uplift that patients experience as a result of such programs enhances their sense of engagement and self-esteem, and has been shown to improve medical outcomes as well.

MEMORIAL DAY CELEBRATION
A Memorial Day celebration will be held at Fort Meade Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11179 on May 28, at 11:00 a.m. The post is located at 31 N. Brown, Ft. Meade. Speakers are Sr. Vice Commander Bill Lambert and Polk County Commissioner Ed Smith. After the service, the Post will offer a $5 a plate lunch with proceeds to benefit the local Veterans Assistance Program.


SAVANNAH COURT SENIOR HEALTH FAIR
     Savannah Court of Bartow, 290 Idlewood Ave., is offering a Senior Health Fair on Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
     Free blood pressure checks, medication information, full prevention screening, Medicare information, blood sugar checks and hearing screening will be provided.
     A hydration station, freebies and door prizes will also be given away at the Fair.

TINDALE OLIVER PARTICIPATING IN RED NOSE DAY, 2016

Tindale Oliver (@tindaleoliver) is proud to announce its participation in this year’s Red Nose Day (@rednoseday), a national campaign dedicated to raising money for children and young people who live in poverty.
 
Tindale Oliver’s Tampa office will host an employee bake sale and luncheon to benefit Red Nose Day on May 26, 2016. All proceeds benefit Red Nose Day’s 11 partner organizations in the U.S and overseas.
 
“Tindale Oliver strives to create a workplace that encourages social responsibility and giving back. We are proud to support Red Nose Day and make a difference in the lives of children across the world, and we look forward to a fun event,” said Bill Ball, Chief Operating Officer.
 
On Red Nose Day, people and organizations around the county participate by wearing red noses and organizing “FUN-raisers” to spread awareness and raise money. The purpose of Red Nose Day is to bring people together to support a common cause through fun and laughter. The campaign has raised more than $1 billion globally in the past 25 years. SPCA is busting at the seams – Furry friends need a home!  – ½ off adoption fees for large dogs and cats (six months of age and older).
