Florida Court Clerks To Help Victims of Domestic Violence
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers remain committed to protecting Floridians who may be suffering from domestic violence. This year, the Polk County Clerk's office is partnering with the Peace River Center and donating old cell phones to give to victims for use in emergency situations. Any old cell phone can be used to dial 911 and call for help. Employees are encouraged to bring in their old cell phones and give them a greater purpose than merely collecting dust at home. OLD CELL PHONES MAY ALSO BE DROPPED OFF AT THE CHAMBER FOR VICTIMS TO USE IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. (The Chamber will make sure Peace River Center or Stacy M. Butterfield's office receive the phones!)
The Polk County Clerk’s Office has partnered with Peace River Victim Services by providing an office for them to meet with victims. Peace River is then able to connect victims with other valuable services within the community. Should you or someone you know be experiencing domestic violence, we urge you to reach out to the Polk County Clerk's office at 863-534-4000.
