To Host 4th Valentine's Day Wedding

   Couples and their guests will then be treated to a reception with light refreshments provided by local sponsors in the vintage 1926 courtroom.
     The ceremony is limited to 30 couples, and registration is first come, first serve. Couples may register when applying for a marriage license by visiting any of the three Clerk’s office locations—the Bartow Courthouse, or the Lakeland or Winter Haven Branches—and requesting to get married at the Valentine’s Day ceremony. All couples must have a marriage license by Friday, February 10th in order to participate in the Valentine’s Day wedding.
     Couples must both be present to apply for their license, and both must have a valid form of photo ID. Couples must also make sure they know their Social Security Number. The Clerk is waiving the $30 ceremony fee; however standard marriage license fees do apply.

BAYCARE WELCOMES 4 PHYSICIANS
     BayCare Medical Group is expanding services in Polk County with the addition of four new physicians. Preyanka Aggarwal, MD and Wendy Quiles, MD, are Primary Care Physicians, Christopher N. Nobo, MD is a gastroenterologist, and Kamal Sharma, DO, is a medical oncologist/hematologist.
Third Generation Doctor Practices Medicine At BayCare Bartow Regional Medical Center
     Dr. Christopher Nobo joined BayCare Medical Group in September to open a gastroenterology specialty practice. He is on the medical staff of Bartow Regional Medical Center and Winter Haven Hospital. Dr. Nobo, a Bartow native, is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa; and completed an internal medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC and a gastroenterology fellowship with the University of South Florida.
     Dr. Nobo is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Gastroenterological Association and the Florida Medical Association, and is a board member of the Florida Medical Association’s Council of Medical Education, Science and Public Health. Dr. Nobo has also participated in several research studies on gastrointestinal, esophageal, and duodenal involvement in cancer patients and evaluating nutritional deficiencies in the veteran population. He is certified in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) – a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate problems of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. By returning to his hometown, Dr. Christopher Nobo is continuing a family tradition with his work at Bartow Regional Medical Center. Both his father, Dr. Ralph Nobo, an obstetrician-gynecologist, and his grandfather, Dr. Rafael Nobo, who was a general surgeon, have served patients since 1963.     Dr. Wendy Quiles joined BayCare Medical Group (BMG) in October to practice at BMG Primary Care in Bartow, located at 1625 N. Carpenter Avenue. She earned her medical degree at Ross University School of Medicine in Roseau, Dominica and completed residency in family medicine at TriHealth, Bethesda Family Medicine in Cincinnati, OH.

     Dr. Preyanka Aggarwal joined BayCare Medical Group (BMG) in late December to practice at BMG Primary Care in Haines City, located at 36245 Highway 27. She earned her medical degree at Santosh Medical College and Hospitals in Ghaziabad, India and completed her residency in family medicine at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, MI. Dr. Aggarwal is board certified in family medicine and is also certified in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and as a practicing HIV specialist. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine.The BMG Primary Care practices see patients age 2 and older.      Dr. Kamal Sharma joined BayCare Medical Group in September to practice at Winter Haven Hospital’s Cassidy Cancer Center. She is the medical director for the Cassidy Cancer Center, and is on the medical staff of Winter Haven Hospital.
Dr. Sharma is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology. She earned her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY. She completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, NY, where she chose to study translational research in oncology. Translational research involves analyzing patients and customizing successful cancer treatments for them when possible. She then followed with fellowships in medical oncology and hematology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Sharma brings an extensive experience in clinical trials and drug development. An accomplished author and presenter, she has contributed her medical knowledge to numerous peer publications and associations, including Science Translational Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research and Best Practices & Research Clinical Hematology.

Southeastern University to Host Forum for Business Communication
Southeastern University will welcome Nancy Duarte to Lakeland for its Forum for Business Communication on February 9, 2017. The hour-long workshop for leaders and communicators will address the subject of inspiring change through speeches, stories, ceremonies and symbols.
      Nancy Duarte is a communication expert who has been featured in several publications including Fortune, Forbes, and Fast Company. Her firm, Duarte, Inc., has created thousands of presentations for the world's top institutions, including Apple, Cisco, Facebook, GE, Google, TED, and the World Bank. She's also the author of Resonate, Slide:ology, the HBR Guide to Persuasive Presentations, and co-author of Illuminate: Ignite Change Through Speeches, Stories, Ceremonies, and Symbols.
      The event will take place at 8 a.m. at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla. Tickets are $25 a person and breakfast is included. The saying goes “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”, which is the case with our adorable dog, Roxie. Roxie is just like her momma, Jayda. She is very shy around people she doesn’t know, but once you show this girl some love, she will warm up to you instantly. Roxie enjoys playing with other dogs and going on walks; she is currently working on learning to love her leash. Make sure to stop by the SPCA Florida and love on our sweet Roxie.
