Construction Begins on SR 60 and 98

Weather permitting, the outside lane of eastbound SR 60 (Van Fleet Drive) from west of US 98 to east of Wilson Avenue is expected to be closed from 9:30 pm on Thursday, October 27 to 5:30 am the following day, and during the same hours from Sunday, October 30 through Thursday, November 3 for prep work on the roadside. The outside southbound lane of US 98 approaching SR 60 also will be closed during these same hours from Sunday, October 30 through Thursday, November 3 for roadside prep work. Motorists will face a detour starting at 9:30 pm on Sunday, October 30 when the stretch of US 98 between SR 60 and Manor Drive is scheduled to be closed for the removal of an overhead sign. Construction activities on this week’s schedule that will be done without lane closures include additional roadside prep work throughout the construction zone along US 98 from south of SR 60 to south of Manor Drive and along SR 60 from east of Richland Road to west of US 17. Motorists are reminded to observe the posted speed limit and to drive with extra caution in the work zone for the protection of themselves, construction workers and pedestrians. Fines are doubled for speeding in the construction zone when workers are present. Entrances to all businesses in the work zone are open and accessible. For more information, visit www.idriveus98.com or call the Public Information Officer at (863) 533-6800 ext. 106. The projected completion of the project is late fall 2013.
