TIME TO NOMINATE THE GEORGE W. HARRIS AWARD WINNER!

 

Jordan is “more of a roll up your sleeves and get it done leader,” DeNeve said. “In fact, the only thing flashy about Len is his tuba. If there is a bigger cheerleader for the community of Bartow, I’ve never met him.”

Through his career as a licensed Professional Structural Engineer, Jordan has been very active within county and city government. He currently serves as Chief Structural Engineer for Madrid Engineering Group. He has served on the Polk County Board of County Commissioners Code Enforcement Board for eight years, and was chair for five years.

For the past seven years, he has served on the City of Bartow’s Building and Housing Board of Appeals, where he currently serves as Chair. An active member of the Ridge Branch of the Florida Engineering Society, Jordan has served as its President and has earned awards for Young Engineer of the Year, twice as Engineer of the Year and an award for Outstanding Technical Achievement. Jordan is currently on the Technical Advisory Committee for Gause Academy’s ethics team for its business curriculum.

A Past President of the Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce, Jordan is currently serving his third term as a Board Member. He has also served on the Mayor’s Annual Prayer Luncheon Committee for more than 30 years. Jordan was tapped for the first Leadership Class when it was established in the mid 80s.

Jordan has been a member of  First Presbyterian Church in Bartow for more than 40 years, where he has served as a Ruling Elder and a Board Trustee.

Jordan has worked at Mainstreet Bartow’s Friday Fest activities along with his wife Mary, since its inception.

He has been a member of the Bartow Breakfast Rotary Club for decades.

Nominations for the 2014 George W. Harris, Jr. Leadership Bartow Award are now being accepted. Any Chamber member may nominate a past graduate of the Leadership Bartow program. Nominees considered are those who have contributed significantly to the community, with an emphasis on government, civic or social service.
