YOUTH VILLA LUNCHEON IS MAY 20, 2015

The annual Youth Villa Luncheon will be held on May 20, 2015 at the Bartow Civic Center. Catered by Curly Tails, the cost is $10.00. per person. Rotary and other Civic Clubs have agreed to use the luncheon as their meeting date. Andy Bean, the PGA tour golfer is keynote speaker. During the luncheon, long-time Villa Golf Tournament player Herb Dixon, who is 95 years old, will be honored. Dixon has played in the Villa every year except the year he was inducted into the African American Golfer Hall of Fame in 2012. Emcee is Sheriff Grady Judd. For more information, please call Karen B. BEGINNING SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES OFFERED

The Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center invites you to enroll in "Beginning American Sign Language." The course begins September 1, 2015 and is on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Registration fee is $150, the textbook is $40. Classes are held at the Center, 3020 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland, FL 33803 in the Ruthven Family Community Room. Class sizes are restricted so enroll today. CFDC TO MEET IN BARTOW NEXT MONTH
The next general investor meeting of the Central Florida Development Council will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the City Commission Room at Bartow City Hall, 450 N. Avenue, Bartow. CFDC Chairman Leonard Mass said, "Several members of the transition committee met with the City of Bartow officials to explore opportunities of locating the CFDC offices in Bartow. While no final decision has been reached, certainly Bartow is a location that the transition team has considered. We thank the Bartow officials for taking the time to present their community and its benefits to us." Come show your support at this meeting!

CSX CLOSING HOBBS ROAD UNTIL WEDNESDAY
CSX Transportation is closing Hobbs Road between Avenue Q NW and CR 544A (Derby Avenue) to thru-traffic to replace the old rail crossing with new track components. Traffic will be detoured. Hobbs Road will reopen this Wednesday morning. CSX is advising motorists to avoid area during closure. For additional information contact CSX at 1-800-232-0144.

2015 CARILLON CLASSIC
     Online registration for the 2015 Carillon Classic 5K Run & Walk at <http://www.active.com/lake-wales-fl/running/races/carillon-classic-5k-run-and-walk-2015?int=> officially ends at 12:00 Midnight on Wednesday, April 29. The online registration fee is $30 for adults and $20 for students in grades 1 through 12, plus a modest service charge.
After the online option expires, runners and walkers can still get involved by registering in  person on the morning of the race on Saturday, May 2 at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales, Florida. Race day registration begins at 6:30 am, with the 5K starting at 7:30 am sharp, rain or shine. All runners and walkers, as well as volunteers, receive a free one day pass to Bok Tower Gardens good for the entire family on the day of the race.

Main Street Bartow's new Wednesday Farmers Market at Fort Blount Park, at the corner of Main Street and Broadway Avenue in downtown Bartow. The market will be held each Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The vendor fee for a 12’ x 12’ space is $20.00 per Wednesday paid monthly in advance, or $25 on an occasional basis.
