Luster All African American Heritage Museum Re-Grand Opening!
The Luster All African American Heritage Museum and the Luster All Training Center of Hope are very pleased to announce the grand reopening of their operations at their new location at 585 East Summnerlin Street in Bartow, on the SW corner of E. Summerlin St. and S. Jackson Ave.
The facility, once home to Redeemer Lutheran Church preschool, has been renovated to accommodate the Museum setup and serve the education needs of the training center. The Museum is situated in the front of the building with the Training Center located to the west and rear.
Mr. Charles Luster the founder and director of the Museum stated, “We are looking forward to reestablishing our presence in the community after having moved last summer from our location on South Central Avenue. And although we are not completely finished installing all the exhibits, we felt it was time to let people know we are still available to represent African American history in the area. I think we may always be a ‘work in progress’ but that is not necessarily a bad thing for a museum.”
The Training Center, under the direction of Dr. Harvey Lester, has already graduated one class of home health aides at the Summerlin St. facility and additional classes are underway in the caring fields such as Home Health Aides and Certified Nursing Assistants.
Both organizations are arms of the not-for-profit Luster All Pastoral Care and Cultural Center, Inc. that has been serving the community for almost 20 years.
The grand reopening that includes a ribbon-cutting by the Greater Bartow Chamber of Commerce, an open house, and light refreshments, will be held on Friday, February 19th beginning with the ribbon cutting at 10:00 a.m. “We cordially invite anyone interested to attend at any point throughout the day until 3:00 pm.”
Please call: (863) 537-6658 or (863)797-6111 or (605)863-1344 with any questions about the event.
