New Article

FROM THE PRESIDENT:

With the holiday season upon us and folks gearing up for all of that shopping, let's try to keep it local. It is so important to support our local merchants.
It is up to all of us to help our local economy grow and thrive. Each dollar you spend at a local business returns three times more money to our local economy than one spent at a chain - although it is important to note that some chains are locally-owned franchises.
In addition, small businesses donate more than twice as much per sales dollar to non-profits and local events. The multiplier effect created by spending locally generates lasting impact on the prosperity of local organizations and residents.
Locally-owned businesses shape our community and give it a distinct personality. And isn't it more fun to shop locally? Many times you know the people with whom you are spending your hard-earned dollars! Not only are you helping the Bartow economy to thrive, but you are helping to create new jobs as well.
The folks who own businesses here in Bartow are our neighbors and friends. They need our support to keep their doors open. I don't like seeing empty buildings. I want to see them all full and if we buy Bartow maybe they will be, someday. When people think that Bartow is a wonderful place to own a business, let's prove them right.
Community means living and working together for the good of all of us. Please shop locally whenever possible. You may be surprised at how enjoyable and rewarding it is.
I wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. I look forward to seeing you all out and about on Black Friday; and make sure you BUY LOCAL on Small Business Saturday - which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving!

Until next week,
Sharon Casey
Chamber President, 2015
