Wine Walk
As an addition to the Movies In The Park held the second Saturday of each month thru September, the BC Chamber is hosting a Wine Walk in the Historic District prior to the movie.  Participants will start at the Chamber office (front patio) and purchase a wine glass, map of participating businesses, and hand stamp stating they have been carded and are apporoved to drink alcohol.  25 businesses are signed-up to host on June 14th...this number is subject to change.  The fee for the glass is just $25 for one/$45 per couple and is good at all 25 locations for wine and snacks.  A station is set-up at each location to pour out and rinse glasses.  The map  also has a grid/checklist on the back for each merchant to sign off that participant has stopped by.  After all boxes are filled in, come to the movie to deposit the completed grid in the special drawing box.  Just before the movie starts, a winner will be drawn for a beautiful wine gift basket.

58th Annual 31ers Dinner
All are invited to attend the 58th Annual 31ers Dinner for the opportunity to enjoy dinner and share stories and memories of Boulder City with old and new friends.

Join us for an insight into Boulder City's history with “St. Thomas” a historical presentation by Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interpretive Specialist Sky McClain following the dinner.

The 31ers Educational Outreach Showcase will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014.

Originally, a “31er” was the term used for a person who arrived in    Boulder City in 1931 for the building of Boulder “Hoover” Dam and   Boulder City. Over the years, the term incorporated the generations of those first families who made their homes in Boulder City. The term “31er” now incorporates anyone who has lived in  Boulder City for 31 years.

While most of the original dam workers who came to the Boulder Canyon Project in 1931 (31ers) are no longer with us, the family  members of those first 31ers and members of the community gather annually to continue sharing the stories of the building of Hoover Dam & Boulder City, at the 31ers Reunion Celebration.

31ers Educational Outreach Showcase
The Educational Outreach Showcase will feature historical skits from Andrew J. Mitchell Elementary School’s second grade. Educators and the community are invited to explore the Museum’s educational out reach programs for adults and children, inquire about our Archives, and tour the Museum following the skits.

Over the past few years, the 31ers Educational Outreach Team has spanned the generations with educational activities focused on the construction of Hoover Dam and Boulder City. Since the 31ers Educational Outreach Program was implemented at the Museum, over 1,000 children from all over Clark County have had the opportunity to participate in the program’s hands-on activities.

This year marks the launch of the iLive History Program, put together by educator Tim Roy and the 31ers team, which will allow teachers to bring skits created from Boulder City’s oral histories into their own classrooms complete with lesson plans and educational standards.

PurpleLight2014

PurpleLight is a national gathering of over 80 communities across the United States that honors pancreatic cancer survivors, inspires loved ones fighting the disease and remembers those who have lost the fight. It is a wonderful opportunity for family and friends of those touched by pancreatic cancer to come together to gain both comfort and encouragement. This event is free and open to the public. By registering you’ll have the opportunity to submit the name of a loved one you would like to honor in the name-reading ceremony. Participants will break open a purple glow stick as each name is announced. Registering will help guarantee that we have enough glow sticks to turn Las Vegas purple! Participants are encouraged to wear as much purple as possible.
Luminaries will be available again this year for a suggested donation of $5/Luminary. Please bring with you pictures, decorations and anything else you would like to use to help decorate your luminary.
