About Us

About Us
St. Jude’s Ranch for Children rescues abused, abandoned and neglected children of all races and faiths from the vicious cycle of child abuse. We provide healing and nurturing in a safe home-like environment where children can learn life skills to start new lives with new chances, new choices and new hope.

The Boulder City, Nevada Campus is located about thirty miles outside of Las Vegas. The landmark for this campus is a beautiful Spanish- style chapel at the entrance of the campus. When you walk into the chapel you will notice the paintings on the wall are of children who once lived at the ranch. Their names have also been written on the stones inside the chapel, a constant reminder of how many children have been cared for here. This campus sits on 40 acres overlooking Lake Mead, there are eight cottages and an independent living facility fully equipped to care for children who, through no fault of their own, have been abused, abandoned or neglected.

Children are placed in our care through the Clark County Department of Family Services. We are licensed for 59 children who have been taken from their natural parents because of some sort of abuse, abandonment or neglect. By the time the children arrive at the ranch some have already been placed in multiple failed private foster placements.

On the Ranch the children live with full-time Family Teachers. These “stay-at-home” Family Teachers take care of the needs of six to eight children, many of whom are siblings, in their home. They have constant supervision, monitoring, teaching and care. The Teachers are responsible for providing role modeling, companionship, transportation, academic support, social support, mentoring and medical supervision as well as meeting their day to day basic needs.

The Family Teachers are supported by a team that includes a Campus Director, Social Worker, Residential Coordinator and Child Psychiatrist/Psychologist (as needed). All are devoted to the achievement of the children and their transformation into adults equipped with the life and social skills necessary to succeed.

We also have a Transitional Living Program that offers our older children individual independent living quarters. The program is offered to them when they are 16 and have shown the ability to understand what it means to be independent. In Transitional Living they learn to run their own household and become fully responsible for their own everyday activities, such as having a full-time job, being a full-time student, maintaining a budget and other daily adult responsibilities. Children are seen as “aged out” of the foster care system at 18. Our program is unique in that we are able to care for the children until they are 21 and are more capable of living independently.

If you are interested in volunteer opportunities, employment opportunities, or taking a tour of our campus please contact the Community Relations Department at (702) 294-7102.
