We have been invited to the kick off meeting of the Kindness Campaign for Boulder City. All four public schools will be participating in this project. The meeting will be held, 8 am, on Monday, November 1 at the BCHS Auditorium. The staff from all four schools will be attending as part of their staff development day. Please take a look at the KLAS TV 8 video to get background on the foundation and its mission. Other schools and organizations are participating but I think this may be the first time an entire town has initiated the effort. I think it fits nicely into our anti-bullying efforts as well. I understand many folks will be out of town, but if you are available we would love to see you there.  More information on the foundation can be found on the website: www.joshstevensfoundation.org

Cox Business Hosts Free Webcast on Cybersecurity for Small Business

ATLANTAIn recognition of National Cybersecurity Month, Cox Business is offering a free cybersecurity strategy webcast for small business executives on October 28.

The webcast is the fourth in the Solutions for Small Business (SFSB) series that offers direct access to leading experts, who provide advice on topics critical to helping small businesses thrive, such as boosting productivity and protecting customer data. The first three webcasts focused on marketing, accessing capital and using web tools. SFSB is a collaborative program supported by Bloomberg Television®, Cisco and 13 other cable companies.

Hosted by Bloomberg Television anchor Monica Bertran, the upcoming “Protect Your Business with Effective Cybersecurity Strategies” is scheduled on October 28 at 2:00 pm ET, and will feature three speakers: Larry Godfrey, from Heartland Payment Systems; Rich Kissel from the National Institute of Standards & Technology; and John Marshall, small business owner of Main Street Fine Foods. The speakers will discuss how small businesses can develop security policies to avoid disruptions to service and protect sensitive data.

This interactive, live video webcast, enabled by Cisco’s WebEx and TelePresence® collaboration solutions, will give participants the opportunity to present questions to Bertran and her guests in a live discussion. The webcast is complimentary, and those interested in participating can register at www.solutionsforsmallbusiness.com. The website also offers reports, case studies and podcasts, as well as archived copies of previous SFSB webcasts.

“Small businesses face unique strategic and operational challenges, and the current economic climate only makes those challenges more daunting,” said Phil Meeks, senior vice president of Cox Business. “These free webcasts and resources demonstrate Cox’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and the success of our business customers.”
