Changes coming at Lake Mead Recreation Area Visitor Center

"The movie captures the essence of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area through the eyes of the visitors, the complexity of the water, and the beauty of the natural and cultural history,” said Jennifer Haley, the park’s chief of Visitor Services and Education.

Voiced by actress Stockard Channing and produced by Chuck Dunkerly at Harpers Ferry Center, “Life in the Desert” is the park’s first professionally produced film. In addition to the movie, the visitor center offers an array of National Park Service exhibits, the Western National Parks Association gift shop and a desert botanical garden.

Although the main visitor center will be closed two days a week, visitors will still be able to receive park information at park entrance stations and at the information center at park headquarters at 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, Nev. The information center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitor information is also available online at www.nps.gov/lake or by phone at  (702) 293-8990
