Utility Rate Increase Update
The City Council had before them an agenda item to consider and vote on their budget for the coming fiscal year. Part of that consideration was the increasing of utility rates and service charges. The outcome was the following:
Residential
Electric rates:
Increase 16% in 2017 (which technically begins October 1, 2016), 5% in 2018, 5% in 2020
Electric service charge increase from $5/month to $10/month
Water rates:
Increase 17% in 2017, 2018, 2019
Service charge from $18.34 to $28.34 (this is for the 5/8" to 1" size meter)
Sewer:
Increase 17% in 2017, 2018, 2019 Service charge increase from $14.65 to $17.15
Commercial:
Generally the same as residential (above) except: leaving off the 5% increase in 2018 and 2020 on the electric rate. (Commercial electric rates will only raise this October 1, 2016, but will not have a scheduled adjustment in 2018 and 2020 like residential does.) The commercial electric service charge is $10 now and will increase to $20. As well as the service charge for commercial water is based on meter size~please ask City Hall for the increase here as there are so many options to address in this category.
For further questions or explanations, please contact City Hall or your City Council.
On the Tourism Front
Please note that a research firm by the name of Field and Focus, will be in Boulder City collecting survey data from our tourists from May 26, 2016 through June 19, 2016. They will be in logo-embroidered polo shirts, hang-badge ID, and clipboards. They are a legitimate firm and we will be using the data collected in the creation of the new marketing strategy being released prior to the I-11 opening.
