The Chamber Brings Value to Local Business
Your Chamber is always hard at work ensuring tourism, commerce and economic development are happening. All three of these help drive traffic to our city and allow you, our businesses to thrive. We are a constant receiver of feedback; and be it not always good, it is needed to take our organization, members and our community to the next level. With the construction of Interstate 11, now more than ever is an important time in our future. The Chamber has and is hard at work on activities that will continue to drive local business and tourism despite the bypass. One recent member, Ruben Valdez, owner of Ruben's Wood Craft and Toys (and winner of the Chamber's Business of the Quarter Jan-Mar) had this to say about the impact the Chamber has had on his business:
My little store is now going on three years; crazy how time flies when we're having fun. I love the fact that the wood maze I donated for schools, churches and carnivals has been used all over the valley. The one dollar paint wood items we have in the store have taken off tremendously, not only with the locals, but the Las Vegas Valley as well. Folks from Vegas are always asking where to eat and what stores are around. With my store profits, we buy toys to fill the shelves, and we are always looking for new, specialty and retro themed toys. Currently my store traffic is dominated by social media, gathering customers from Boulder City as well as Summerlin, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mountains Edge, and Southern Highlands. We ship items as far away as New York. The Chamber has been a vital link in bringing customers through the Wine Walks, Halloween event, Spring Jamboree, etc. I am very grateful for the support I have received. We have directly gained customers through these Chamber sponsored events. Thank you for all you do!" Actually, THANK YOU Ruben for being such a great member! You embody what the Chamber is all about; recognizing and referring member businesses all the while taking advantage of the traffic the Chamber helps to drive into town. Check out Ruben's Wood Craft and Toys on Facebook and see some of the amazing handmade wood crafts he's making!

Clemson University Graduate Needs Your Help
Being a member of the United States Chamber, we get requests frequently from students around the country asking for our help in their studies. Being the helpful Chamber and community we are, we thought you might like to be a part of this student's research! Alice Brawley is a graduate student at Clemson University (SC) conducting a 5-10 minute survey of family businesses with 1-9 workers across the US. Alice grew up as part of her family's business, so she's very passionate about this work and is excited to share what she finds with the Chamber. The survey will link a few easy-to-use ways of managing employees to important business goals, namely, employee performance, employee retention, and customer service quality. Feel free to contact Alice directly at ABRAWLE@clemson.edu. Here is the survey link: http://clemson.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0SWshXK2l4eJeJv.
Should you have any questions regarding the survey, please don't hesitate to reach out. We hope you will take the survey and we are anxiously awaiting the results that Alice will share!

Business of the Quarter Nominations Needed
We need your help! The Business of the Quarter program recognizes local businesses that consistently go above and beyond for their customers, community and ultimately reflects the values and mission of the Chamber. Many of our businesses do amazing things and unfortunately we don't always hear about it. Not only is the BOQ through the Chamber a great way to be recognized, but you can also utilize it to recognize your employees! And, recognition leads to retention! Feel free to print off some Business of the Quarter nomination forms and have them at your business. Or, if you are home based, attach the link to an email. We also monitor social media and include tags from the Chamber or member businesses as well. If someone on your site gives you kudos, we'd like to hear about it! Here's one example of recent feedback received from one of our members, My Garage: "Thank you Jeff! My Garage in Boulder City NV saved us today. WE have not met a more helpful mechanic in all my travels across the US. We could not recommend you high enough. Thanks again, from the 2 Aussies in the old school bus." Nice work My Garage! Check out the link here for your BOQ nomination form!
