Spring Jam Update

The big day is just around the corner and we're excited for all the fun and business it will bring.

We are still in need of volunteers, so please check the list in the lobby of the Chamber office.  We will also be sending out an updated list to everyone next Wednesday for you to review where you have volunteered and to also encourage your friends to fill in any missing spaces.

We still have a few Chamber Showcase spaces left if you are interested.  Please complete the application and get it to Rana in the office as soon as possible.

Check out this for a very special offer from Boulder City Social for Spring Jamboree.  You won't want to miss out on this very special program that Kathy Hicks has available to Chamber Members!!!

Boulder City Dam Walkers

BOULDER CITY ‘RACE FOR THE CURE’ TEAM LOOKING FOR MEMBERS

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Mary Hinson, 2011 Honorary New Balance Survivor, resident and Lake Mead NRA employee has agreed to captain a Boulder City team for this year’s 16 Annual Race for the Cure. “You can run, walk or sleep in for the cure as a member of the Boulder City Dam Walkers” says Hinson. This year’s Boulder City team is currently recruiting 500 Boulder City residents to make history as the largest open team to participate in this event. Challenge your family, friends and co-workers to join in the fun.
Hinson, a breast cancer survivor herself, knows the importance of raising awareness for early detection and funds for breast cancer research. “This will be my ninth run, and eighth since my treatment.” She was diagnosed and initially treated here in Boulder City. She was 37 at the time with children ages 2 and 5. “It was a scary time, but the support I received from my family, friends and neighbors got me through it. The Boulder City community rallied around me and made sure my family was taken care of,” said Hinson.
75% of all funds from the Komen Race for the Cure stay right here in Southern Nevada to make life changing programs such as the Komen Cares Bag Program possible. “After my surgery, while I was waiting to start treatment I was surprised by a knock at my door. Susan G. Komen had sent a volunteer to meet me. She came in and introduced herself as an eight year survivor. Her visit changed my life, I knew I would survive.”

Boulder City residents wanting to be a part of this incredible event can register as a Boulder City Dam Walker at www.komensouthernnevada.org or contact the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce at 702.293-2034.

The Library Wants You!

Hello.  We are getting ready for the Annual Book Sale at the Boulder City Library.  I'm looking for volunteers!  We need help at the following times:

Monday-Thursday, April 11-14  Help Setting up the sale.  We have boxes

of books in our basement to move up to the Meeting Room and set up.

Thursday we will be setting up in the Boardroom because it is in use the early part of the week.  This is all inside work.  We have an elevator, book carts and air-conditioning.

I need people to work the sale on both Friday and Saturday, April 15 & 16, during Library Hours.  A typical shift is about 3 hours, and it seems to work best if we have 2-3 people per shift.  This is also inside work.

Sunday, 9 am to Noon, I'm looking for people to help box up the books that don't sell so we can get the Meeting Rooms back for the public to use.  Some of the boxes of books will go back to the basement for resale to Better World Books. Other boxes will go right to the dumpster.  Mostly inside work, some outside work.  I'm still looking for some other outlets for the books we don't sell.

You can sign up to help with the sale by emailing or calling me.  I'll also have the sign-up list with me at the Noon Rotary meeting this week.
