Annual Chamber Installation Dinner and Community Awards

The invitations have been sent, the venue is being decorated, the meal is being prepared, and the awards are being engraved.  We sure hope you'll be joining us for this amazing annual event that recognizes our out-going volunteer Board Members and welcomes in our new Board of Directors and Chairman.

This year's event will provide a lot of insight into new Chamber programs such as the new group insurance program, the Boulder City App, the newest Platinum Corporate Sponsor and a very exciting release of the first raffle ticket sold for the Annual Chamber MEGA Raffle of a 7-day, all expense paid, houseboat rental on the Silver Milennium.  The largest Forever Resorts houseboat at Cottonwood Cove.

The Community Awards will be sure to surprise you with this year's winner of the Business of the Year, the Eva McGarvey Award, the Alice Isenburg Award, the Youth Achievement Award, the Bob Sears Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Burt Hansen Business Person of the Year Award.

The table sponsorships are going quickly, so please check out the details on that in the link below and call Rana to reserve your sponsorship.  It is a super way to market your business to the attendees.

Call today to reserve your seats and we'd be happy to invoice you or you can pay by credit card.

We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Chamber Installation Dinner and Community Awards.

Eye On Washington

I’d like to announce the partnership between the Boulder City Chamber and Joyce Communications, Inc. of Washington, DC to help keep you on top of all the federal issues that particularly matter to you, your families and your businesses.

Marilee Joyce, President of Joyce Communications and host of the “Eye On Washington” show -- which airs statewide in Nevada on Fox, NBC and CBS affiliates -- approached the Chamber with what we thought was a great idea and I’d like to share it with you all and see whether you would like to take advantage of what is not only a good deal financially for you and your business, but also is a good deal intellectually for those of you wanting to stay on top of Capitol Hill and aware of what your elected officials are doing there on your behalf.

In addition to the “Eye On Washington” program, Joyce Communications also is the publisher of the online Nevada’s Washington Watch newsletter. Both the show and the newsletter focus on how federal issues affect Nevada. They cover every federal issue Nevadans care most about: Gaming, mining, health care, water, education, military bases and homeland security, the environment, Medicare, business and taxes, Yucca Mountain, the Nevada National Security Site, public lands, clean energy and so much more. Joyce Communications presents the news in a unique way, so different from so much of what is aired or in print today: both the show and newsletter are positive, non-partisan and, of course, very pro-Nevada.

Here is what Marilee is offering our members:

The regular annual NWW subscription rate for corporations is $500-$1,000/year, depending on benefits packages, etc. But for our members she is offering a special introductory rate for corporations of $250/year.

This special Chamber rate gives you up to 10 Access Codes to the newsletter ($1,000 value) as well as several free or discounted benefits that are geared toward steering more business your way. Along with your corporate subscription, you’d get: a free link to your website from the "Friends of 'Eye On Washington'" page of the Joyce Communications website ($400 value); a half-off fee if you would like to advertise on the site (value: up to $5,000 for the largest ad they offer); free daily or weekly email blasts from us with a round-up of the Nevada Congressional delegation’s press reports; and the opportunity to submit a Guest Editorial in future issues -- these opinion pieces are another way to get some great attention for your company as they are read by the publication’s statewide readers as well as by the members of the Nevada Congressional delegation.

For those wanting an individual subscription (one Access Code) the fee is $49/year. This rate includes the free blast roundup of news from the Congressional offices; the right to submit Guest Editorials; and 15% off web ads. Marilee says this smaller package might be a good choice for smaller business owners or other individuals wanting to subscribe.
Please let me know if you’d like to take advantage of this great offer to subscribe Nevada’s Washington Watch. This discounted yearlong subscription is being offered to our Chamber members until July 31st.

P.S. Also: Marilee has offered me the opportunity to contribute a Guest Editorial on the needs facing Nevada rural chambers and Nevada's rural businesses, and what the federal government and our Congressional delegation could do to make the going a bit easier on us during this challenging recessionary time. Some of the ideas that come to mind of course, are more favorable tax policies for small business owners and health reform that truly helps our business owners without subjecting them to onerous regulations that can’t be easily complied with or paid for. I invite your ideas for other ways the Nevada delegation could best help your companies survive and thrive as I put together this opinion piece for the Nevada’s Washington Watch July issue.

I'm excited to see who will take Marilee up on this very special offer and the Guest Editorial.  What a perfect way to share Boulder City's needs with our Congressional Delegation.

Jill
