Social Media Corner

Does your business have a Facebook business page? Instagram? Pinterest? Google Plus? Chances are you have one or more of these to help market your business. These platforms attract and are meant to attract a very different set of users. Facebook is the most common used social media platform where 1,754,000,000 active users scroll over 648,000,000 minutes each month on their screens. Out of that number of users, 1,126,000,000 are mobile users which means you need to capture attention very quickly. And you're not going to capture attention on Facebook by selling to your audience.

Facebook launched as a college app where students could be social and plan meetups without having to text or call each other. It has evolved to a platform that can benefit both businesses and consumers, but if it's used effectively. You should refrain from overly promoting your products or services on Facebook or any other platform because you risk your posts not being viewed. People are not coming to Facebook to buy things; they are coming to be social, get entertained, learn something, engage with friends. So keeping your posts 30% Personality based (show a bit of your own personality), 30% Purposeful (how to use your product or service) and 40% Promotional (actually talk about what your products or services can do for the consumer) will help you stay relevant and make it through to your customers.

If you utilize Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, but is really for you to show off your creativity with your products or services, should be even less promotional. If you're looking to up your social media game, let us know! We can help!
