Weekly Chamber Broadcast Email ~ The Chamber Means Business

Bogus Calls From The Boosters

Mrs. Michelle Inman recently contacted the Chamber to let us know that there have been phone calls from solicitors attempting to collect money by stating that the fundraiser is for our local school Booster's or from one of our local elementary schools.

Please be aware of whom you are speaking to when committing a donation to a local group.  You can always contact the school directly or call us here at the Chamber and we will research it for you.

Local Dentists Have a Heart

This press release was sent to the Chamber and is worthy of us passing along!

The Season is upon us, it’s time for fall, pumpkins, and cooler weather. But it is also time for our annual "Have a Heart Program". A time when we strive to give back to the community of Boulder City that has given so much to us.

Have a Heart is simply this – we pick one day to do as much free dentistry as we can.
That Day is October 27th so Families and Individuals in need should call and begin to schedule that time. George Rosenbaum D.D.S. 293-0373, Andrew Huxford D.D.S. 293-0205, Richard Blanchard Blanchard D.D.S. 474-9877, and Justin Parker Orthodontist 293-0205 have agreed to join us in this day of giving. Dr Clothier’s office can be reached at 293-1437. If you or someone you know has a dental need without the ability to pay then contact ANY of us at one of those numbers.

Boulder City Circle Does Cole Porter for Emergency Aid

The Boulder City Circle will perform the music of Cole Porter in a cabaret concert that will take place on Friday evening, October 23, at the St. Andrew Catholic Church Hall, 1399 San Felipe Drive, Boulder City, Nevada.

Produced by Phil Marcus Esser and Nancy Porter, this Cole Porter musical will be the third fundraiser performed by the Boulder City Circle to help Emergency Aid this year. Last February, they presented “Speak of Love” at Grace Community Church and followed that with their production of “Charlie’s Angels” on April 12th.

The orchestrations will feature Charlie Shaffer on piano, Arno Marsh on sax, and Bob Baker on bass. The vocalists will be Phil Marcus Esser, Laura Shaffer, Mike Miele, Susan Slykerman, Nancy Porter, Alyson Tobler, and Justin Keogh. Once again, Greg Langley will be the narrator.

All proceeds will benefit Boulder City Emergency Aid. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at Plaza Realty, 581 Hotel Plaza St. Boulder City, NV. 293-2440. The doors will open at 6:15PM with the performance at 7:00PM on Friday, October 23, 2009.

This fundraiser is sponsored by the Boulder City Circle, Plaza Realty, the Boulder Dam Credit Union and The Boulder City Knights of Columbus.

BC Goes Passionately Pink

The Boulder City Chamber is proud to be supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation again this year during Breast Cancer Awareness month.  This Friday, BC Goes Passionately Pink with ribbons on all the light poles along Nevada Way and Nevada Highway.  We'd like to thank the Teenagers Actively Contributing group for volunteering to tie all the ribbons for us.  We appreciate their efforts in making this a big day in Boulder.

Several of the local businesses have indicated that they will be decorating their store windows for BC Pink Day and will be entered into a contest with a trophy being presented to them during the annual picture.  If you would like to also be considered for this recognition, please respond to this email and we'll be sure to send judges your way on Friday morning.

Tee shirts are available at the Chamber office and also at Curves of Boulder City.  If you miss us during the day, the Boulder Dam Brewing Company will have pink shirts for sale after 5pm on Thursday also.

There are several businesses that have chosen to have a special or event on BC Goes Pink day.  Grandma Daisy's will be selling Pink Chocolates, Curves is offering a waiver of the $149 service fee with proof of a mamogram or a $25 donation to Susan G. Komen between October 23rd and October 31st, Boulder Dam Brewing Company will donate $1 of every beer, wine or lemonade (ha ha) during their special Boulder Dam Brewing Passionately Drinks for the Cure on Friday, and the Elks Lodge is even supporting BC Goes Pink by hosting their weekly Friday Night Dinner in Pink and offering a special Pink raffle.

Our sponsors for the event have been wonderful to help us reach our donation goal.  We'd like to thank Periwinkle Cottage, Boulder Dam Brewing Company, Boulder City News, Get Noticed Advertising, and Curves of Boulder City.  We appreciate your support.

Please try to find a few minutes to join us on Friday, October 23rd at 12 noon on City Hall steps.  We will be taking our annual picture with everyone dressed in Pink and will also have some brief presentations there.  You can stop by on your lunch hour and still have time for a sandwich.

We're looking forward to hearing from Marlene Morwick, a breast cancer survivor and BC Goes Pink committee member, Val Olsen, BC Goes Pink committee co-chair, and Paula Francis, Channel 8 anchor and annual supporter of BC Goes Pink.

Hope to see you there!
