Don't Wait...Time is Money!

The Chamber continues to find ways to assist you in reducing your costs to due business.

Contact Les Harris at 702-982-5838 (or email @ leslie.harris@e-hps.com) and ask him to assist in reducing your Payroll Processing Costs and your Credit Card Processing Costs.  Les is a Chamber Partner and committed himself to helping in any way he can.

The Holidays are coming and it may make sense to create Gift Card &/ or a Customer Loyalty Program as well as review your current provider.

Feel free to check out his website and learn more about what he can offer.  Especially pay attention to "It Pays to Understand Your Statements" it is very informative about all the extra fees you may be getting charged (that you don't have to pay) to process credit cards. www.heartlandpaymentsystems.com/leslieharris

Tomorrow is the last day of the clothing drive at the Hottest Dam Boutique, so if you have any items that you'd like to donate, drop them off before tomorrow.  All the items collected will be going to Peggy's Attic.  This great organization assists women and children during hard times and was created in the namesake of Peggy Leavitt, an amazing Boulder City community leader.

The Chamber has tickets for the Robbie LeBlonc concert that is this Friday night at 7pm at the Episcopal Church.  Tickets are just $10.00 and benefit the Friends of the Arts.

Nov 5-7th the Boulder City High School Drama Club presents a murder mystery, "The Long Red Herring".  Reserve a row of seats with your business name attached.  Call Christy at 812-6449 to make your reservation.

Nov 7th from 6:30-8:30pm, Costco in Henderson will be hosting a Special Holiday Shopping Event.  This extended hours event will have refreshments, a scavenger hunt, prizes, and pictures with Santa.

The library will be involved in an Upgrade and Inventory project that will help us serve the public better. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank the public for your support and patience.

The Boulder City Library is looking for Volunteers to assist with an Inventory and Upgrade project during the months of November and December. Volunteers will be asked to work in teams of 2-3 with staff

Pancakes Will Be Flying!!!

Saturday, November 7th from 7-8am at Boulder Creek Golf Club, the Rotary Club of Boulder City will be providing a pancake breakfast to all those community workers that will be helping at the Fall Community Clean Up.  The meeting location is in the breezeway between the Pavilion and the Clubhouse at Boulder Creek.  So come hungry at 7am and bring gloves, a shovel and a friend and help keep Boulder City Clean and Green!

Chamber Events Were A Great Success

The Chamber would like to thank all of you that came to the Chamber Shredding Day.  We filled the truck by 4pm and had to have a second truck come out Tuesday to pick up all the extra.  We'd like to thank American Shredding for providing the service, to Albertson's for allowing us the use of the truck and to Bill Ferrence for helping us to advertise the event.  The Chamber will continue to host this event each October, opposite of the Boulder Dam Credit Union's event in April.

We'd also like to thank all of those that attended the Boxed Lunch and Learn in October.  The instructor was Howard Tangler and the subject was Memory Power and how it can help increase your effectiveness in business.  Everyone loved the class and we all took away great tools to use in the future.  The Chamber will have more Boxed Lunch and Learn opportunities in the future.

Better Business Bureau's Scam Warning

We recently received the following notification and wanted to make sure you were aware of the BBB's concerns.

SCAM ALERT
October 28, 2009

ALERT
Scam FDIC Emails

The Nevada Financial Institutions Division (FID) is warning consumers not to fall for a bogus email solicitation, purporting to be from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

The FDIC reports that it has received a large number of complaints about a phony email that looks like it's from the FDIC. The subject line of the email reads "check your Bank Deposit Insurance Coverage" and advises recipients that they are receiving the email because their bank has failed and the FDIC has taken over their bank's assets. In the email, consumers are asked to go -- via fraudulent web link -- to a supposedly "official" FDIC website and provide personal information. The aim of the email is to obtain confidential information that may be used to inappropriately access online bank accounts or to steal consumers' identities.

"This is definitely a scam," says FID Commissioner George Burns. "The email and the web link associated with it are fraudulent, and consumers should not respond to it."

If you receive this email, do not respond to it and file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.ic3.gov.

The Financial Institutions Division is the regulator for all Nevada state-chartered depository institutions including banks, credit unions, thrifts, etc., supervising over 35 of these state financial institutions. For more information about the Financial Institutions Division, visit http://fid.state.nv.us/.

For more information about how to protect yourself from scams of all kinds, visit http://fightfraud.nv.gov.

November Chamber Member Mixers

This month, the membership will have two opportunities to network and learn about other Chamber Members.  Thursday, November 12th at 5:30pm we will meet at Marshall Plaza for their annual Holiday Progressive Mixer.  We will start at BC Florist and will continue through the Plaza to Baughman's Farmers Insurance Agency, Ellen Lamb's Century 21 Agency, Interior's By Diane, Alan Stromberg-Architect, and Boulder City Pawn Shop.  From accross the street, Carrie from Boulder Bean will also be joining us and tell us about her shop too.

On Wednesday, November 18th at 5:30pm, in the spirit of Thanksgiving and sharing, NEVADA STATE BANK invites you to join them in the bounty of the season.

They will be serving MaMa Ford’s Famous Pumpkin Pie and cider as well as collecting food items or cash donations for the Boulder City Emergency Aid.

For each item of food donated you will be given an opportunity to win prizes. The more food the greater the opportunity to win gift certificates for food or gasoline.

We will also have a special treat in a wilderness of Southern Nevada presentation by Sharon Schafer.  Her art has you falling in love with leaving in the desert Southwest.

"WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING AND GREETING MANY MEMEBERS, CLIENTS AND AIDING OUR OWN BC EMERGENCY AID TRHOUGH GENEROUS DONATIONS,"  Carol Jefferies stated.
