DELILAH DEWYLDE AND THE LOST BOYS PERFORM AT TIBBITS

COLDWATER – Delilah DeWylde and the Lost Boys bring high-octane, rockabilly fun to Tibbits Opera House on Friday, May 6, 2016.

Tibbits organizers considered the show a perfect way to kick off a weekend in Coldwater that includes the 29^th Annual Car Show-Swap Meet. Combining the best of American roots music—honky-tonk country, searing gutbucket blues and lonesome hillbilly twang— Delilah DeWylde and the Lost Boys mix their own self-penned songs with vintage country, honky-tonk hits, rockabilly favorites, and surf gems by such artists as Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Wanda Jackson, Buck Owens, Gene Vincent, and Dick Dale.

Looking and sounding like a step back in time the group dresses to the nines in the tradition of pre-color television, and thrills audiences across the Midwest with its spirited performances. The group got its start in 2005. Their original sound of steel-guitar-driven country later combined with an irresistible big beat, and over time become sharper and tighter. Delilah and the Lost Boys remain committed to hand-crafted American music that stands at the crossroads of creativity and craftsmanship.

The trio performs more than 75 gigs a year throughout the Midwest and beyond, and has recorded three albums. Bandleader Delilah DeWylde on upright bass and lead vocals is a veteran of the West Michigan music scene. She brings an outsized stage presence as the centerpiece of the show — one minute singing sweetly, the next standing on her bass and slapping it into submission. Next to the sound and fury of Delilah stands cool character Lee Harvey on the orange Gretsch guitar. Harvey, who hails from the Union City area, presents a serious demeanor onstage revealing his reverence for the precision and technique of the guitar. Another veteran of the Michigan music scene, drummer D.J. McCoy, considered a “drummer’s drummer” demonstrates extraordinary skill and plays an enviable vintage drum kit.

Dean Walrack, a member of Tibbits’ programming committee said, “This West Michigan trio can tear through the gears from honky-tonk waltzes to 114-octane-soaked rockabilly and surf in five seconds flat!” He adds, “It’s an energy and sound you just have to see for yourself.”

The band takes the stage at 7:30 pm and the event includes a cash bar with beer and wine. The performance is at the historic Tibbits Opera House at 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater.
