Letter to the Editor

Curt MacRae, Curtis Funding Group

While it’s hard to believe we’re in 2016, and even though I’ll be writing 2015 for the next two months, the new year is here, and it gives us all a clean slate to be nicer, be harder-working, be more collaborative, be better than we were in 2015.
  • So, as we start our new slate, perhaps a few resolutions are in order for the new year. As the ex-chair of this Board of Directors (Wow, that two years went by in a hurry!!), please allow me to share some thoughts on what I plan to do with my business to improve upon my 2015 results in 2016.

    • I plan to be a full-year member of the Coldwater Area Chamber (OK, I did that in 2015, too, but it was one of the best investments I made in my business, so it’s on the list EVERY year) – already wrote my check; did you?

    • I will upgrade my Chamber membership to a level that allows me to enhance my marketing efforts through Chamber resources; check it out, because you have some economical options for marketing.

    • I welcome Brad Rockey as the new chair of this Board, and Russ Hickey as its first vice-chair; I will support them in every way I can, including the continuation of this column for as long as they want me.

    • My business will continue to give back, by sponsoring some things with charitable organizations in the area; while I don’t have the resource to support every good cause, I’m going to support those I can, and I will make my clients aware of those resources so that maybe they’ll help some of these worthwhile causes, as well.

    • I plan to lose 30 pounds in the next six months (OK, it’s not all business).

    • I will publicize my business more, as past-chair, than I did as Chair; I think it’s good for you to know what I do, because your businesses might benefit from my services and hopefully you’ll want to work with a Chamber partner — By the way, Curtis Funding Group provides leasing/financing dollars for businesses that need equipment, so business owners can get the new/used equipment they need to do the business they need to do… and, we don’t impact your current bank lines or relationships (and, we do it all with no surprises) — there, that resolution is started.

    • Network, network, network. I want to make sure I know as many business people in this community as I can. It’s good for my business, and it’s fun; why wouldn’t I want to do that? In fact, you’re all invited in to my office at any time, to discuss your business, or mine, or just to have a cup of coffee and visit. My office is the second on the left, when you enter the Chamber building – stop in.
