The Holidays begin when the lights go on in Buckeye.  Magic on Monroe will be held December 3rd starting at 4:00 p.m.at the 6th Street Plaza in Downtown Buckeye.  Event includes: Cookie Decorating, Hot Cocoa Bar, Ornament Making and Train Rides.  The Children should wear their pajamas as the movie The Polar Express starts at 6:00 p.m. on a giant outdoor screen. The first 200 children who check in will receive a Believe Bell.  The evening is highligted with a Christmas Tree lighting at 8:00 p.m.

The 3rd Annual Buckeye Marathon (Certified Boston Qualifier) will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Buckeye Municipal Airport.  The “Race to the Runway” full marathon will actually begin well north of the airport in a Buckeye neighborhood, Festival Ranch and will end on the runway at the airport, which is one mile south of Interstate 10 on Palo Verde Road.  The 5K, 10K and Half Marathon will begin at the Buckeye Municipal Airport.

Volunteers can help over 1000 runners cross the finish line in December!

 

The 3rd Annual Buckeye Marathon will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016 and the City of Buckeye Recreation Department is looking for volunteer water station attendants, medal distributors, and more.

 

Sign up for one of many opportunities. Volunteers of all ages are welcome; ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult/guardian. Volunteer shifts occur between the hours of 7am and 2pm. All volunteers will be compensated with a shirt and paid lunch.

 

Benefits to volunteering include opportunity to meet new people, smiles and high-fives from race participants and community involvement.
