Town Talk March 8: A Century of Adventure in Lake Almanor

St. Andrews is marking their 20th year of offering private, preparatory education to local children as well as bringing children from all points of the country to discover our beautiful area. St. Andrews opened their doors in 1999 with a vision of training the minds, the hearts and the souls of the young men and women who crossed entered in both knowledge and wisdom.  Character formation is foremost to their mission, teaching their students that what one can do in the broader world is nothing compared to how and why one does it.  Their first graduate was handed her diploma in 2003.

A Century of Adventure will be a food & fair night celebrating the rich heritage of values that have built our communities around the basin and the legacy of hard work and tenacity that have brought us to this day.  At the event you will be able to grab a bowl of chili, a hunk of bread, and maybe a local Waganupa beer, and hear a brief overview of pioneer history from Marilyn Quadrio, some insight into our local Collins Pine sawmill from Terry Collins, and what’s new at Feather River Community College that may have an impact on our future from FRC President, Kevin Trutna.  Plus, visit the booths of local crafters, non-profits, service clubs and other institutions that have built and are still building our local community. We stand on the shoulders of giants in terms of our founding families and those that followed in the last century or more—there’s no limits to what that same kind of grit can accomplish in the next century.

Following are the community organizations and businesses that will be present at the faire.
