On May 28, the Almanor Basin Watershed Advisory Committee (ABWAC) will host a special public meeting on invasive quagga and zebra mussels. Park Main Road to Open Early June

The Lassen Volcanic National Park main road is planned to open early June.  The Warner Valley Road to Drakesbad is open.  The park road is open to Devastated Area on the north side of the park and to the Bumpass Hell parking lot on the south side of the park. The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is open 9AM - 5PM daily.  For additional road information visit the NPS Road Report.

Lake Almanor Water Levels

The Lake Level Committee reports that although we experienced another dry year our May rains greatly improved the outlook for Almanor lake levels. The rains lasted long enough to wet the soil, and melt remaining snow pack that was then added to rain run off rather than being absorbed by the soil. Prior to the May rains things were looking very grim.

PG&E is projecting lake levels to remain above those of last year throughout our season. Bob Lambert has posted the graphs showing projected lake levels for Lake Almanor and Bucks Lake on the 2105 Project web site.
