GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Manager, Walk to End Alzheimer’s identifies, cultivates & manages volunteer relationships within the community that directly increase resources for the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association through the signature event of the Alzheimer’s Association, Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Measurable outcomes of this position are achieving designated financial and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, corporate solicitation and community partnerships as well as increasing Walk-brand visibility in the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Fund Development:
• Responsible for reaching financial, participant and team number goals from designated territory through effective volunteer management to achieve overall chapter Walk to End Alzheimer’s goal.
• Develop resources needed to build chapter’s capacity by identifying individual donors, teams, fundraisers, corporate partners and third-party fundraisers.
• Mobilize community volunteers and be able to recruit and train leadership volunteers to implement successful Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising strategy & event.
• Focus and support Walk Volunteer Planning Committee on best practices around team and corporate sponsorship recruitment, team cultivation/retention, team fundraising and local Walk promotion and marketing.
• Grow Chapter-wide Champions Club Program by implementing cultivation and donor-development strategies, increase number of Champion’s Club participants. This may include special events as the program grows.
• Through the Team Mentor Program cultivate top performing teams in designated territory to return year after year and target mid-level performing teams to grow fundraising support.
• Build relationships with Team Captains through the Walk Volunteer Planning Committee to ensure growth in fundraising and walkers.

Increasing Chapter and Walk-brand Visibility:
• Increase chapter and Walk-brand visibility through community development in the designated territory by implementing strategies of outreach & fund development plans. Seek and identify key community influencers and promotional partners who will assist in building chapter and Walk presence in the community.
• Build connections with target professionals and families through participation in appropriate events to reach business/organization supporters, Alzheimer persons and their families (networking opportunities, speaking engagements, health fairs, public appearances, etc.).
• Oversee volunteer-led grassroots marketing campaigns in target population pockets in designated territory to increase Walk-brand visibility (such as Dine Out to End Alzheimer’s).
• Make referrals to core chapter services based on professional assessment of need; periodically provide information and referral to appropriate chapter services.



General tasks & responsibilities
• Maintain monthly reports, to track progress towards goals.
• Attend chapter meetings and special events as scheduled. Serve as liaison to internal committees and relevant advisory committees and workgroups as assigned.
• Partners heavily with Development department, Outreach department and Communications and Marketing Department.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Office located at 9370 Olive Blvd. St. Louis Mo. Territory defined as Metro-East, the ten counties in Illinois served by the St. Louis Chapter.
• Extensive travel by personal car throughout chapter territory and by air to other meetings as needed.
• Ability to operate designated office equipment.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
• Ability to carry up to 25 pounds of equipment and supplies.
• Able to work well in high-stress, high-demand working environments.


Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelors degree required or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of three years’ experience & proven track record in non-profit fundraising and/or corporate sales.
• Marketing, community organizing and public health education skills necessary.
• Successful experience recruiting and working with volunteers in fund raising activities.
• Donor and fund development experience and skills necessary.
• Strong public speaking skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook; Internet proficient.
• Proficient in Convio Luminate software preferred.
