Our team is seeking an experienced professional to be a Senior Marketing Associate. This role increases our brand awareness through employer outreach, implementation of marketing plans and representing the organization through regular face-to-face contact with the public in the Richmond and Hampton Roads market.

In this position, you will:
- Plan and conduct presentations and webinars that increase awareness of our education, retirement, and disability savings programs
- Lead on-site operations at conferences and events to promote Virginia529 programs, primarily in the Richmond and Hampton Roads market.
- Coordinate and assign areas of responsibility to staff working for internal and staffing agencies to enhance the agency’s presence and maximize partnerships
- Identify and contact employers statewide to build awareness of all Virginia529 savings programs and Virginia529@Work
- Research and recommend marketing activities and strategic partnerships to reach key audiences
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers, community organizations and other stakeholders
- Develop communications and recommend content that engages target audiences
- Contribute to planning and activity reporting

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will have:
- Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Five years of experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or equivalent field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Experience building long-term collaborative marketing partnerships
- Experience managing small to mid-sized projects
- Experience developing marketing plans and drafting effective business communications
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex communications to large, diverse audiences in person or virtually
- Excellent relationship building, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Ability to independently prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to read, interpret and summarize financial journals and industry publications
- Proficiency with MS Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Work Environment
- This position requires frequent travel across the state including some nights and weekends. When not traveling, this position works up to a few days per week onsite at our office
- Frequently communicates with team members, customers, vendors, and organizational partners; must be able to exchange accurate information accordingly
- Frequently attends promotional activities in public areas such as conventions, fairs, and sporting activities in varying weather environments
- Must have the ability to lift and move up to 20 pounds independently
- Constantly operate a computer and other office equipment including typing and keying
- Must be able to occasionally move about the office to retrieve files and documents
