Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce is seeking a dynamic and engaging leader who desires a position with an organization which offers the following opportunities:

The Chief Executive Officer will be an active and valuable participant in the continued growth and prosperity of the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce.

Specific essential responsibilities will include the following:
• Develop and implement a clear vision and strategic plan to advance GRCC’s mission and objectives.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors and stakeholders to establish short-term and long-term goals, ensuring alignment with the needs of local and prospective businesses
• Support the Board in its governance role and assist in identifying, recruiting, and engaging a diverse, equitable and inclusive membership to serve as the governing body.
• Oversee GRCC’s daily operations, including budgeting, financial management, and staff supervision and stakeholder relations.
• Ensure efficient and effective use of resources to achieve organizational goals and maintain financial stability.
• Cultivate relationships with GRCC board members, members, businesses, and community leaders to enhance member engagement and foster a supportive business environment. • Serve as the primary advocate for the GRCC, representing the interests of the business community to local, state, and federal government entities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, media outlets, and community organizations to enhance GRCC’s visibility and build trust among partner organizations.
• Collaborate with other organizations to support their economic development efforts to promote and attract business investment, job creation, and economic growth in the Greater Rockford area.
• Foster collaboration and partnerships with community organizations, nonprofits, and civic groups to address common challenges and build community pride and awareness.
• Collaborate with workforce development agencies and organizations to build a capable and sustainable talent pipeline.
• Collaborate with the Economic Development District to support regional strategies, planning, data capabilities.
• Act as a liaison within the business community to facilitate dialogue, cooperation, and collective action.
• Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, recommendations, and reports on GRCC’s activities, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.

Objectives:
• Build and sustain effective working relationships with members, elected officials, business and community leaders, partner organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate conversations and action plans to address the current and future needs of businesses; provide services to support and maintain locally owned businesses, as well as developing opportunities for future growth for existing businesses.
• Monitor business and economic trends and forecasts to develop strategies to position Greater Rockford for future opportunity and success.
• Develop and nurture relationships in order to encourage economic growth; network with leaders of private industry, representing GRCC’s best interests in current and future growth opportunities.
• Proactively engage and communicate with members, identifying challenges and helping eliminate obstacles.
