About this role:
- Designs and implements developmentally appropriate specialty lessons aligned with Montessori pedagogy and
grade-level expectations.
- Cultivates a learning environment that reflects order, independence, respect, and diversity.
- Ensures classroom and materials are clean, organized, attractive, and well-maintained.
- Manages a curriculum supply budget, ensuring expenditures stay within approved limits.
- Participates in designated teacher workdays for planning, preparation, classroom setup, and in-service
training.
- Maintains active supervision of students indoors and outdoors at all times.
- Ensures students are in age-appropriate designated spaces and transitions are smooth and safe.
- Uses a variety of tools to assess student progress in academic, emotional, and social domains.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date student records to support semester progress reporting.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and Level Directors to support whole-child development.
- Builds and maintains respectful, supportive relationships with families.
- Coordinates with classroom teachers and leadership before initiating parent conferences or addressing
student concerns.
- Participates in the annual evaluation and goal-setting process to support professional growth.
- Attends required meetings, school functions, and professional development activities.
- Completes professional development aligned with school and personal growth goals.
- Submits required forms and documentation in a timely and accurate manner (e.g., accident reports, leave
requests).
- Upholds confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and staff.
- Reports hazards or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Contributes to a positive and respectful faculty culture and strong community engagement.
- Follows all RMS policies and procedures.
- Actively works to align teaching practices with Montessori philosophy and school values.

Qualifications:
We seek people with:

- Bachelor’s degree required, a degree in education preferred
- 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred
- A commitment to best practices in Montessori education
- Passion and joy for working with elementary-aged children and an enthusiasm for learning
- Excellent classroom management skills
- A clear commitment to diversity, community, and inclusion in school communities, as expressed in RMS’s

- Personal traits and communication style that nurture the growth of children
- An agile, growth mindset and a solid work ethic
- Works cooperatively with adults and is a collaborative team player
- Solutions driven with the capacity to manage ambiguity
- Comfort with using technology daily and a willingness to learn and navigate specific platforms, such as
Google and student information systems. Experience with Veracross is a plus.
- First Aid/CPR and MAT certifications required (school will sponsor)
