Cocktail Reception for the General Consul of Colombia

The Colombia Texas Chamber Commerce hosted a welcome reception in honor of  the General Consul of Colombia in Houston, Mr. Miguel Rafael Lopez Mendez.

The reception was held at Mr. Harold Marx’s home, Industry Director of CTCC. The board members, industry directors, and staff of the Chamber interacted with the Consul and generated a positive exchange of ideas. Claudia Rojas, Executive Director, and George Donnelly, Chairman of Chamber, welcomed the General Consul and offered the consulate the full support of The Colombia Texas Chamber of Commerce to promote investment opportunities in Colombian and Texan Companies. The General Consul highlighted that Colombia is a good location for investors to go, and extended the consulate’s support to the initiatives of the Chamber.

Seminar: Business with Texas, Bogota -Colombia

On April 4th, the Colombia Texas Chamber of Commerce delivered an introductory lecture in Bogota, Colombia, about how to do business in Texas. The Director of the Chamber, Claudia Rojas, presented the business opportunities in different areas of the market in Texas such as in oil & gas, technology and services. The second part of the conference was in charge of Luis Pinilla, an attorney admitted to practice law in Colombia and in the State of New York  Mr. Pinilla lectured about the corporate vehicles that can be used to invest in Texas, the different kind of visas available in the USA for investors, and provided a summary of the USA-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, including in his discussion how Colombian companies can benefit from it. The event took place at Hotel Dann, with the attendance of approximately 40 different companies.

Trade Mission- 4th Annual Colombia Oil & Gas Summit and Exhibition, Cartagena

Once again our trade mission was a success. The Summit and Exhibition gathered the highest level of exhibitors, services providers, and the opportunity to network with high level executives from distinguished companies.
 
The highlight of the mission was the business round tables organized by the Chamber, which allowed participants coming from Texas to sit and discuss face-to-face business opportunities with Colombian companies.
 
 

MBDA Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The Colombia-Texas Chamber of Commerce –CTCC–participated in the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, and the Business Roundtable Discussion with the Office of the National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), organized by the Houston MBDA Business Center.
With this event the operations of the Houston MBDA Business Center - an agency operated by the Houston Community College, were inaugurated. The event served also as an opportunity to discuss about the “minority- owned businesses challenges” with representatives of the MBDA, an agency of the United States Department of Commerce that promotes growth and competitiveness of minority business owners.
 
CTCC has a cooperative agreement with the Houston MBDA Business Center to create value to its members by providing tools and services to help them grow their business.
