A CRY OUT TO OUR COMMUNITY

LIGHT RAIL AND LEIMERT PARK NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION!

MICHAEL S. JONES

Dear Crenshaw Chamber Members,

One of the greatest challeges that faces our community is that of APATHY!  I am writing this infogam to ask that you wake up to what is going on in Leimert Park concerning the light Rail Line which will travel from Exposiion down Crenshaw to LAX. There are two very important issues that demand your attention:

1. Currently, Metro has proposed to not have a scheduled stop in Leimert Park becaue there is not enough money in the budget.

This will bypass the wonderful cultural expereince of Leimert Park, which then will not be connected to the rest of Los Angeles. This will have a grave impact on the economic impact of the Leimert Park area.

2. Light Rail is proposed to travel at grade down Crenshaw between 48th street to 59th street because of funds not avaialble to put the train below grade.

This will have a terrible effect on all of the businesses down the Crenshaw Corridor between     48th  and 59 th streets because years of prolonged construction will discourage customers from  shopping in this area and will decrease available parking.  This means that there is a danger of all of these businesses going out of business, which is unacceptable in our community.

SUPERVISOR MARK RIDLEY THOMAS NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Urge Metro to build the Crenshaw to LAX line the right way.

The final vote to determine whether the Crenshaw to LAX line will have a station at Leimert Park Village and whether the train will run underground from 48th to 59th streets on Crenshaw Boulevard is at hand. The community has consistently called for these design features and Thursday, May 26, the 13-member board will demonstrate whether it has listened.

Show up: residents, business owners and other stakeholders who understand transpiration’s vital importance to economic development and neighborhood safety, should plan to attend the Metro meeting.

One Vote. One Community. One Decision, Crenshaw to LAX final vote, 9 a.m., Thursday, May 26, Metro Board Room, 3rd Floor, One Gateway Plaza, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
