MICHAEL S. JONES
I think it is time to give our
Chamber Member, The Los Angeles Sentinel its props! Heartfelt congratualtions to Danny Bakewell Sr, Jr and all of the Sentinel Staff for another successful year with TASTE OF SOUL!. Great food, great artitsts, and a great time catching up with friends you haven't seen in awhile, all under the banner of the greatest live festival in Los Angeles! I took a picture in the middle of Crenshaw Blvd somewhere right accross from the Cobbler Lady's business and all I could see to the horizon to the North and to the South was a sea of black and brown hues of beautiful people having fun enjoying the day! While the crowds grew during the day, the vendor booths under the tents offered mini-destinations to find out just how faboulous and diverse our community really is. There was something there for eveybody and the "shaw" was dressed up and flaunting its best for the world to see! I passed
Council Members Herb Wesson and Bernard Parks (both chamber members) and without any words exchanged we gave each other a look of "Wow!" Perhaps this is the way that our community really is and not the not the negative problematic community portrayed by those who don't live here.
Our Chamber refers to Crenshaw Blvd as the "Nile River" because like the Nile, everywhere it goes it promotes the three C's: Culture, Commerce and Connectivity.
Once again Sentinel, great job; we can't wait for Saturday October 16, 2010, where we can once again Taste the Rich Soul of our great community!
