Defining Statement

Duarte Community Service Council - Services & Programs

The Duarte Community Service Council has been a part of the community since 1947 as a non-profit organization. We provide short-term assistance to local families, and maintain a food pantry at a site provided by The Church of the Foothills. We are staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers.

A. Emergency Food/Welfare Services
The DCSC provides non-perishable food items, food vouchers, and baby supplies on an emergency need basis to families in Duarte year round. We are also occasionally able to provide emergency clothing. During the 2008-2009 fiscal year, the Council provided this service to 75 families and individuals with over 176 children.

Families whose needs are beyond the scope of DCSC services are referred to agencies such as the Foothill Unity Center, Infoline, El Monte Mission for the Homeless, etc.

In 2008, we provided a special Christmas for over 225 needy Duarte families.

Our goal is not to turn anyone away. Last year we received more than 250 requests for help from needy Duarte families
