ELKO — One of Elko’s downtown businesses, Hayley’s Fine Gifts, will get a little extra “sparkle” come Monday.
From 11 a.m.-7p.m. Monday, Hayley’s is hosting a “sparkle party” in honor of the new line of Sorrelli jewelry the store will be carrying. It’s not just any ordinary line, though. Sorrelli is designing a new color scheme for Hayley’s titled “Hayley’s Kometa.” Ko-meta is Basque for “comet.” The party will be at Fifth Street Bistro, and representatives of Sorrelli jewelry will be on hand for the occasion. Light refreshments will be served to those interested in the jewelry.
According to Hayley Bammesberger, her store has been carrying Sorrelli since it opened in 1997. Every four months, Sorrelli comes out with a new collection, and since each color scheme is discontinued after awhile, Sorrelli jewelry is highly collectible.
The jewelry is manufactured by skilled craftsmen using genuine Swarovski crystals and comes with a lifetime warranty. Each piece is also signed, ensuring its authenticity. Bammesberger said one of the features customers of Sorrelli appreciate is the fact that if an item becomes damaged, it can be returned to either the place of purchase or Sorrelli for repairs.
Even though Sorrelli is highly collectible and has the potential to increase in value over time due to the factors of brilliance and limited production, some may wonder why the production of a custom color scheme for Hayley’s is such a big deal. Well, considering Sorrelli’s other main sellers are department stores such as Nordstrom’s, Hayley’s is able to sell an amount that has attracted and maintained the company’s attention since the beginning of the year when the store approached Sorrelli about the concept of a custom color.

During Monday’s party, all Sorrelli jewelry will be on sale at a discounted price. Security will also be posted because of the quantity of jewelry on hand. Some of the necklaces can sell for hundreds of dollars, depending on intricacy and the number of crystals used.
Besides brilliance, craftsmanship and fashionability, Bammesberger and employee Begona Hull said many people wear the jewelry because it simply helps make them happy.
One of the biggest trends lately in jewelry has been in the area of heirloom or estate jewelry. Unless one manages to inherit genuine antique jewelry, Sorrelli’s style of production is the next best thing, and at a much more affordable price than estate jewelry. “It’s like in grandma’s jewelry box, but with a little extra kick,” Hull said.
