ELIGIBILITY
Eligible members are at least 18 years old with a need for supervision throughout the day. At a minimum, a member must:
• be able to transfer from chair to chair or toilet(with no more than one assistant),
• be able to feed himself/herself, perform routine hygiene, and attend to toileting needs (with no more than one assistant),
• not be a danger to himself/herself or others, and
• not be bed-ridden
ACTIVITIES
Each day is carefully planned by our Certified Activity Professional to be as fulfilling as the last, with many activities designed to promote self esteem, creativity, and to stimulate each member’s body, mind and spirit. Members enjoy a varied selection of exercises and games to promote good balance, flexibility and strength; crafts to enhance small motor skills; music and memory activities to help maintain brain function; and special events with visiting pets, musicians and storytellers. Each Wednesday day there is an opportunity for members to participate in a non-denominational inspiration hour with traditional music and an inspirational message if they wish.
HEALTHCARE MONITORING
Our full-time Professional Nursing Staff oversees the health needs of each participant and meets with caregivers on a routine basis to discuss changes in health status or medications or treatments required while at the Center. She works with the caregiver and family healthcare provider to help maintain or improve the health of our members.
MEALS AND TRANSPORTATION
BrightPath Adult Enrichment Center works closely with Elko Senior Citizens’ Center to provide Meals on Wheels for our eligible members and with the North East Area Transit System (the NEAT bus) to provide transportation to the Center. Of course, members may bring their own lunch and family members may drive them to the Center.
