Parking In Garberville

Over the years, parking in Garberville has gotten much more crowded.  Most parking spaces have a 2 hour time limit.  Lately, more and more business owners have gotten frustrated with people not abiding by this, so the Sherriff's office has been more diligent about giving tickets the last few weeks.  We understand that as business owners and employees, you can not go out and move your car around every 2 hours, so we have parking passes available.  Contact the Chamber Office if you need some- (707)923-2613 or info@garberville.org.  Just let us know how many, for whom, and which business.

*We ask that those with passes try not to park in front of businesses, as we would like to save those spaces for our customers and clients who patronize our businesses.

New Executive Director!

The Chamber board is pleased to announce the hiring of Cinnamon Paula as our new executive director. Cinnamon has been a resident of Southern Humboldt for over 13 years and Northern California her whole life.  She and her husband are raising 4 boys and building their own home.  She currently serves on the board of the Southern Humboldt Bulldogs Youth Football League and the Southern Humboldt Little League. Cinnamon is also very active in educating our community on the public education system with her work with Educate Our State. Cinnamon is very technology literate which will work great with our new web page along with all the requests via the internet for information on our beautiful area.  She loves our community, is a very dedicated worker, highly organized, has a strong work ethic, self motivated, and enjoys visiting with our tourists. She is currently in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-3pm. This will change when school holidays fall on Monday’s as she will be home with her children.

The Merchant's Guild

Garberville Redway

Merchants’ Guild

“Keeping Our Towns Clean”

All dues collected are put into the Merchants’ Guild Account and funds are used to help keep our business districts clean.

Our Merchant’s Guild Supervisor is Brian St. Clair

Typically businesses commit to a monthly fee (ex: $25 or $50) and are billed quarterly.

***In continuing our beatification efforts, we will be pressure washing the sidewalks in Garberville during the evenings on Sundays and Thursdays.  We will not be spraying during your operating hours.

Please be advised that all efforts will be made to minimize the water spread, but your windows and/or business front may be susceptible to over spray.  Doorways and/or windows should be closed and any other openings should be covered.***

If you have any questions please call Cinnamon at the Chamber of Commerce 923-2613.

As many of you know, our new website is up and running!
http://www.garberville.org
It is a great tool for integrating our online presence with our Chamber and it's members.  However, there is still work to be done to make it great!  We are working on adding a page for lodging/accommodations and visitor information.  It would be great to have some menus and restaurant hours online as well.  We are working on employment opportunities and other classified listings.  Although the site name has not changed, the actual web address has.  If you have a link to the old garberville.org site on your own, please update it.  The old site link will land people on an error "page not found".  If you have questions, comments, suggestions, or information to submit please contact Cinnamon at the Chamber of  Commerce Office in Garberville at (707)923-2613.

Appreciation

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers this past summer for volunteering their time in the office. Marilyn Yelle has been volunteering since 1984. She is instrumental in keeping the office open on the weekends and also filled in on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. She dedicated a lot of time and energy to assisting visitors to the office, providing our guests with lots of information on the area. Diana Lehman, provides a wealth of knowledge to our visitors volunteered on Mondays, Larry Basquez was in the office on Wednesday afternoons, and Marilyn Cox volunteered on Fridays. Thank you so much for your time, energy and knowledge to the chamber.

During this past busy summer I would like to thank Board Member Toni Genaro for all her time, knowledge and dedication to get the new web page up and running. Toni also took on other chamber projects to assist our organization in promoting tourism, thus improving our economy. Board member Gary Futrell worked hard to keep the office open when we didn’t have a docent in the office. He assisted many visitors, providing them information on lodging, dinning, tourist attractions, driving directions, etc. Also, many thanks to our neighbors in the Redwood Mall, who also assisted tourists with information when the office door was closed.

The Chamber board accepted Kelly Lehman’s resignation in August. In September, we welcomed Chrystine Lachnicht,, Marketing Coordinator  of the Community Credit Union. We welcome her enthusiasm to our organization, and we know she will be an asset to the board.
